Dr. Carla Stovall, Instructor of Music Theory and Low Brass, has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Japan covering a large spectrum of musical styles. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Euphonium Performance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and received a Master of Arts degree in Trombone Performance from Queens College in New York where she studied with members of the New York Philharmonic. She received her Ph.D. in Music and Research from the University of Alabama.

As a performer, Dr. Stovall’s many honors include performing with the National Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, and winning the Norwegian Brass Band Competition with Flesland Brass Band in Bergen, Norway. She has performed with various ensembles at home and abroad including the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Astoria Symphony Orchestra, Huxford Symphony Orchestra, Aaron Copland Orchestra, Queens Opera Orchestra, and the Birmingham Superjazz. Dr. Stovall additionally spent two years starring in the Tony and Emmy Award winning Broadway show “BLAST!” touring over 10,000 miles in Japan and playing five instruments in the brass, percussion, and visual spectacular.
